News from Apr 20, 2023
On April 24 2023, 1:30 pm, Dr. Hannah Franzki will hold an opening lecture at the "People’s Tribunals: experiences, potential and limits" Conference.
"This conference marks the conclusion of the project "Transition in Brazil: The Legacy of the 1974 Russell II Tribunal in Latin America and the Contemporary History of Human Rights", financed by FAPERJ, and developed in partnership by PUC-Rio, UFRJ, UFPB, UEAM and Birkbeck/London.
The vast archive of the Russell II Tribunal, available to the participants of this project, includes the experience of Peoples' Tribunal, such as the Peoples' Tribunal of the Amazon held in the 1990s. Considering the recent multiplication of Peoples' Tribunal, the theme of the event covers not only the Russell II Tribunal , but the subsequent experiences of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT) and other Peoples' Tribunal as spaces organized and thought of by diverse social actors in several countries."
The event will be online. More information on the whole programme of the conference and on how to join can be found here.
